The Night Before Help Arrived

‘Twas the night before
we got cured.

When all through the house,
not even a mouse
could move in the clutter about.

Our stockings weren’t hung
and the lights still weren’t strung,
and then sprung
a heart tremor!

Our company soon would be here;
Oh Dear!

The children were scattering their toys all about,
while the dog started making a funny noise from his snout.

My head started spinning from all the clutter;
but what did it matter?

Off to the kitchen to start dinner;
I wanted this one to be a winner!

When out in the driveway
there arose such a clatter!

I jumped and weaved around piles of matter
to see what was the thunder.

There sat a big pile of stuff from my car,
which had fallen out when Kyle opened the door.

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
our company’s already HERE I thought with a tear!

As I looked around at all the clutter,
I heard myself mutter,
we need professional help.

As fast as I could;
Whatchamcallits were shoved here and there.
The closet doors mourned,
as we squeezed more stuff in.

I dashed around the house with a box!
Rocks, socks, blocks and toys!

Gathering, tossing, hiding and shouting,
they’re HERE, they’re HERE,
hide all this stuff!

So up to the house the company came;
While I proclaimed:
Stuff it in here,
Shove it in there,
Squeeze it into this,
Throw it in the abyss!

And then, in a twinkling, I heard the doorbell ring.
As I smoothed my hair and was turning around,
I noticed dog poop all over the ground!

I yelled for my family to get their coats,
surprising our guests at the door
we just took them OUT.

In the morning I couldn’t get dressed
as I looked at our mess.

I called a professional
and made a confession
about our stuff
about our obsession.

I laughed when I saw her,
in spite of my mess,
as I knew soon she would
relieve me of this stress.

A wink of her eye and a nod of her head
soon let me know I had nothing to dread.

She spoke not a word unkind
when she saw what a mess,
but went straight to her work
and I felt blessed.

We sorted through the piles of paper and things
as she taught me how to de-clutter and sing.

Toss, donate and recycle;
Hey, give this one to Michael!

File don’t pile
were some lessons I learned.
Every dollar I paid her, she earned.

At the end of the day
she gave a little smile and a nod.
Out the door she flowed.
And my place
 how it showed.

A professional had been here;
I had nothing to fear.

As I looked around I was truly pleased;
No clutter, no piles, and I was finally at ease.

So if you are stressed
and have a big mess
don’t obsess!!

You CAN have success,
so much less stress
and get rid of your mess.

My Secret Santa
is Janet,
Just give her a call,
she’ll give you gifts from

banquet of service
just dial 410-586-9440
don’t be nervous.

trans-siberian orchestra

” />“>Washington DC Winter Tour 2007 Opening

A dream come true for hubbie to see this “exploding” light show and music. If you aren’t sure who the orchestra is you might have heard/seen their music on TV ads for Miller Lite Beer. I believe it was Christmas 06 that a man decorated his home is LOTS of lights that “danced” to the orchestra’s music, named Winter Wizard.

Holiday Stuff

By Overhall · Comments (0)

Several years ago my husband and I decided to REALLY simplify the holidays by doing away with most of our decorations, we’ve given most to my grown children, which we now can go visit every year. We display the beautiful greeting cards we get from family and friends, decorate the dining table with a red tablecloth, candles and items I find in nature; sometimes we spray paint to glitter and shine and sometimes we leave natural. We light candles and our fireplace, put cider and cinnamon on the stove, display my late mother-in-law, Dot’s ceramic tabletop tree and occasionally we might string some lights outside. That’s about it for us; however I understand you might be different.

You might have the need to make lists, shop, decorate, budget and entertain so I’d like to help you get through what can sometimes be a “trying time” if you’re not organized.

I invite you to check out my holiday page on my site to find links to holiday decorations that will tickle your senses, holiday storage, a downloadable holiday planner and checklists and even my free downloadable gift cards.
